Bubbles

1 cup water
2 tablespoons light Karo Syrup
4 tablespoons dish soap
Simply mix together and play!

Another Bubble recipe

1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup liquid soap
1 tablespoon cooking oil

Face Paint

1/4 cup baby lotion
1/2 teaspoon powdered tempera paint
generous squirt of dish soap
Mix and use. Test on a small spot of skin (like the inside of the arm) first.

Colored Glue

1 bottle of glue - not quite full
food coloring in color(s) of your choice
Mix well and use.

Colored Pasta for crafts

1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
1 tablespoon of food coloring in color(s) of your choice
2 cups dry pasta
1 quart zip lock freezer bag
large paper grocery bag
Pour alcohol and food coloring bag together in the Ziploc bag and mix well. Add pasta and shake to coat well. Let it set for around one hour, turning it over a few times. Let it dry overnight in the paper bag.

There are several different types of dough to play with. Here are a few, try them out to see which one works best for you and your kids!
Of course, store all in air tight bags or containers.
I did leave out recipes for peanut butter play dough. I have heard so much about allergies to peanuts lately, I felt that would be best.

Coffee dough

4 cups unsifted all purpose flour
1 cup salt
1/4 cup instant coffee
1 1/2 cup warm water
Dissolve coffee into the water. Mix flour and salt together. Make a "hole" in the flour and salt and add 1 cup of the water/coffee mixture; mix with a fork until smooth. Add more coffee if needed. the dough should be smooth. You can bake the treasures your kids make. 300 degrees for about one hour or when it is hard. Preserve with polyurethane.

Standard Playdough

3 cups flour
1 1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoon cream of tartar
3 tablespoon cooking oil
3 cups water
optional - food coloring
Mix all ingredients and cook over very low heat until the mixture isn't sticky to the touch. Cool and store.

Oatmeal dough

1 cup flour
2 cups oatmeal
1 cup water
Mix flour and oatmeal in a bowl. Gradually add water. Kneed until well mixed together.

Bright colored Play dough

2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
3 tablespoons cooking oil
2 cups boiling water
2 packages unsweetened Kool Aid
Mix together dry ingredients. Add oil and water and stir quickly. When the mixture cools, kneed together with your hands.

Salt Dough

1 cup salt
1/2 cup cornstarch
3/4 cup cold water
Stir together over low heat until it thickens. Place on waxed paper to cool. Once cool, kneed with hands.

Another Dough

2 cups cornstarch
4 cups baking soda
2 1/2 cups cold water
Mix starch and baking soda together in a pan and add cold water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and cover with wet paper towel and leave until cool. When cool, kneed.

Fruit Putty

1 small package sugar free gelatin mix
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 table spoons cream of tartar2 cups boiling water
2 tablespoons cooking oil
Mix together dry ingredients in a pan. Add the boiling water and oil. Stir over medium high heat until the mixture forms a ball. Place on some waxed paper to cool. Store in an airtight container.

Pudding Paint

Instant vanilla pudding
food coloring
Make the pudding according to directions. Add food coloring to desired color. This is good for younger kids - it is edible!!

Puff Paint

Flour
Salt
Water
Tempera Paint
Mix equal amounts of flour, salt and water. Add desired color. It dries in a puffy shape.

Soap Paint

1 cup laundry soap flakes
1/2 cup cold water
food coloring
Mix well. A beater works best.

Another Finger Paint

1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Food coloring
In a pan, mix water, salt and cornstarch. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until thick. Pour into separate containers and mix in desired colors. Lasts best when stored in the refrigerator.
