Ages 1 & 2

Age 1
This is an exciting time in child's physical and mental development since there are so many new and interesting things for your baby to learn and discover. Most babies say their first words toward the beginning of this period, though some start even sooner and others don't start talking until they are nearly two years old. More...

Age 2
Your child will start to imitate adult's words and actions. The child will also be able to start to understand words and ideas because motor, language and thinking skills are being developed. He'll soon be able to point at something familiar and say its name, and recognize names of familiar people, objects, and body parts. By two years, he may use phrases and even two- to four-word sentences.  More...

Activity level will also increase by steady walking and running. Climbing to different places will also come to picture. Your child will enjoy listening to stories and and experimenting with objects by wanting to touch and bite almost everything he sees.

The Child will also start to understand and recognize ownership of objects. Soon you will start frequently hear "mine" or see tears if something is taken away or you show attention toward someone else.

Your child will become more social and want to play with other children. Friendships are also starting to develop. This will mean more independence and soon you will find yourself struggling with your toddler to do as you say, only to have him ignore you or scream in protest. He's merely testing your limits and his degree of control. By eighteen months, he will probably have mastered saying "no" with authority, and by age two he may throw a temper tantrum when he's unwilling to do something you ask.  More...
